The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika on Monday morning conducted an inspection of the Adhat Bazaar area as part of the administration’s preparation to shift Adhat Bazaar from the Railway Station Road to Patelnagar. The Adhat bazaar is one of the major reasons for heavy traffic congestion on the Railway Station Road on a daily basis considering which the DM had formed a committee under the chairmanship of additional district magistrate, (finance/revenue) to resolve the traffic issue in the Adhat Bazaar area.

The administration along with the joint teams of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and Public Works Department had recently started a survey of the area to shift it to Patelnagar to resolve the traffic issue in the area. The DM held the inspection of the ongoing survey works on Monday from Adhat Bazaar to Saharanpur Chowk and gave necessary guidelines to the officials concerned to complete the work in stipulated time. She said that the teams are expected to finish the survey in two to three days and local traders are also ready to shift to the new market in Patelnagar.

The DM directed the officials of the joint team to finish the survey work to ensure Adhat Bazaar can be shifted as soon as possible.
