DAV (PG) College will be commencing the admission process for under-graduate courses based on merit from September 18. Principal KR Jain informed that the college has been granted permission by Garhwal Central University to admit students based on merit, owing to a significant number of vacant seats and consistent demand from students.

The merit-based admission procedure will begin on September 18 following completion of necessary formalities pertaining to the merit list and the number of available seats, he added. Jain said that this year, the University Grants Commission has mandated that under-graduate admissions be granted solely on the basis of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) clearance. However, many students were unable to participate in the CUET for various reasons, resulting in a substantial number of vacant seats in the college.

With the demand from students for the merit list and in light of the availability of vacant seats in various colleges, the HNB Garhwal Central University has formally requested the UGC to institute admissions based on merit for the current academic year, he added.
