MDDA begins inspection of basement parking in city complexes

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has started conducting inspection of basement parking in the commercial establishments and complexes of the city. The vice chairman of MDDA Banshidhar Tiwari directed the officials concerned on Thursday that all basements of commercial complexes in the city must be kept completely vacant and properly equipped with ramps and other necessary facilities.

Chairing a meeting with engineers of the MDDA, he instructed officials to ensure compliance with these guidelines in their respective sectors. Tiwari emphasised on the importance of maintaining basements exclusively for parking purposes, as originally mandated by the authority. He said that these spaces should not be used for any kind of commercial activity. To ensure adherence, he asked engineers to conduct thorough inspections of all complexes under their jurisdiction and to report the actual conditions on the ground. The inspection drive has already begun across Dehradun.

The VC instructed that each basement must have provisions for cleanliness, electricity, water supply and proper ramp access. If violations of the prescribed norms are found, the authority will issue notices to the concerned parties and further action will be taken against offenders accordingly, he added.
