PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) took action against two dairy owners following strict orders from municipal commissioner Namami Bansal. The senior municipal veterinary officer Dr Varun Agarwal informed that the corporation took this action based on a complaint lodged on the CM Helpline 1905. He said that he and his team visited the two dairies located in the Mehuwala Mafi Raipur block within 48 hours of receiving the complaint.
He said that the inspection revealed multiple violations. The teams found out that the two dairies had not completed registration formalities, animals were untagged and the properties housed excessive overcrowding. Dairy owners also reportedly disposed of cow dung into open drains and stored large amounts of it in open areas. These conditions generated excessive mosquitoes, fleas and larvae, as per Agarwal. He informed that the team executed strict action on October 10 and issued notices and enforced a challan of Rs16,500 and Rs 20,000 against the two dairy owners on October 13.
He stated that the MCD team then educated and guided the owners, ordering them to follow sanitation guidelines. The team stressed the need to prevent public inconvenience or animals suffering from infection. Agarwal said that the corporation requests all dairy owners to maintain clean premises, ensure proper hygiene and stop draining dung into open drainage systems or strict action will be taken against offenders.
