Five mayors on Monday demanded the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to provide a one-time development amount for the development of new wards in their respective municipal corporations. The mayors Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama, Rampal Singh, Usha Chaudhary, Anita Mamgain and Jogendra Rautela of Dehradun, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Rishikesh and Haldwani respectively met the CM on Monday and talked about the development of wards that were included later in their respective municipal corporations. They asked the CM to provide a one-time development amount to municipal corporations under the entitlement fund to ensure necessary development works can be carried out in new wards in time.

The Dehradun mayor said that new wards need more attention in terms of development in every aspect than the old ones. Though municipal corporations do carry out development projects in their respective bodies, they have limited funds and resources that hinder these projects, said ‘Gama’. He said that all mayors also asked the CM to provide funds to pay sanitation workers deployed under municipal corporation committees as the government recently increased their daily allowance to Rs 500 from Rs 275. As soon as the corporations would receive the required funds, the mayors would allocate them to respective committees in order to release full allowance of sanitation workers as per the government’s order, added the Dehradun mayor. He said that the CM listened to their demands and has assured them to take appropriate action on them.
