PCC chief extends support to terminated Vidhan Sabha employees

Sunday, 08 January 2023 | PNS | Dehradun

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the employees terminated from the Vidhan Sabha are not the wrongdoers but the real culprits are those who adopted such a type of the selection process. Mahara visited the site of the Dharna of the terminated employees of Vidhan Sabha on Saturday to extend his support to them. He said that it is really surprising that the chief minister who approved the appointments of the employees by using his special power of deviation is now expressing happiness at the removal of the employees. He said that if those who made such appointments are not culprits then the terminated employees too are not wrongdoers. Mahara also raised questions on the Kotia committee and said that the State assembly works by the laws and tradition and that any deed of the Speaker can be investigated either by a bench of high court or Supreme Court or by a committee of the house.

It is pertinent to mention here that all the ad hoc employees recruited prior to 2016 were regularised while those recruited in 2016, 2020 and 2021 were terminated by the Speaker Khanduri on the recommendations of the Kotia committee. After losing the legal battle these employees are sitting on an indefinite Dharna outside Vidhan Sabha in Dehradun.

On Saturday the Dharna of these employees entered 20th day. These employees are demanding that either their termination should be revoked or all the employees appointed after the year 2000 in the Vidhan Sabha should be removed.  Congress MLA Madan Bisht, Garmina Dasauni and others accompanied Mahara.
