Man dies after tree falls on passenger vehicle in Dehradun

A man died near Chakrata Road in Dehradun after a tree on the roadside fell on a passenger vehicle during rainfall. The incident occurred on Tuesday near Bhawani Balika Inter College close to the Ballupur flyover. According to police, the vehicle, bearing registration number UK 09TA 0433, was travelling from Dehradun to Badkot, Uttarkashi with several passengers on board. The officials informed that the tree reportedly fell suddenly due to rain, directly impacting the vehicle. The driver, Mahavir Singh Rawat, a resident of Uttarkashi, was among the seven people in the vehicle at the time. One passenger, a resident of Uttarkashi, Arvind Pal (48) was seated in the middle row and sustained critical injuries in the accident. Another passenger received minor injuries. The officials informed that the police from Vasant Vihar police station rushed to the scene after receiving the information through the control room. The officials informed that emergency responders transported both of them to Government Doon Medical College hospital via a 108 ambulance. Doctors at the hospital declared Arvind Pal dead upon arrival. The second injured passenger is reported to be stable. The officials said that the police initiated proceedings for a Panchnama and postmortem of the deceased. The damaged vehicle was moved to the Vasant Vihar police station premises for safety. None of the other passengers sustained any injuries in the incident, as per the officials.
