Two killed, four hurt as rocks fall at Chakrata’s Tiger Falls

Two people lost their lives and four sustained injuries after reportedly being struck by falling rocks at the Tiger Falls in Chakrata block of Dehradun district on Monday. The incident occurred during a time when the area was witnessing a surge in tourist footfall. The officials said that according to local residents, rocks began to fall into the waterfall after a tree collapsed nearby, triggering the deadly accident. The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Geetaram (48), a resident of Sujau village in Chakrata and Alka (55), a tourist from Delhi. The officials said that both were at the waterfall when the rocks fell and died on the spot due to the impact. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the victims were transported to the hospital in Chakrata by ambulance. The officials said that the injured people were provided necessary medical treatment. The police have informed the families of victims and further action will be taken accordingly after their arrival, they added.
