Another accused of Patwari paper leak case arrested

The SIT imposes Gangster Act on all the arrested accused

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the irregularities in the Lekhpal-Patwari examination of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) held on January 8 arrested another accused in the sensational case on Monday. The SIT arrested Sonu Kumar on the day for being involved in the case. The SIT has also imposed Gangster Act on all arrested accused in the case so far.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Haridwar, Ajai Singh, who is monitoring the SIT, stated that the accused Sonu Kumar is a resident of Saharanpur who was arrested from Chhutmalpur bus stand on Monday. According to his statement to the police, Sonu is the cousin of another accused Sanjeev Dubey who had asked him to supervise the students in the resort where they all were gathered to practice the leaked question paper. He was also paid Rs 10,000 for supervising them, said Singh. The police have also gathered important evidence from the resort including CCTV footage and other electronic evidence. The SSP also informed that the SIT has also retrieved information about 31 candidates who cheated in the exam on January 8 and is investigating them. He also appealed to all to not spread disinformation on the case in any platform without any concrete proof as it creates unnecessary confusion and panic among general panic.
