Holiday declared in schools of four development blocks on September 18

The State’s Culture and Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said that a master plan for the Mahasu Devta temple in Hanol will be prepared soon to enable planned development of the shrine. He said that Ahmedabad-based design agency INS has been given the task of preparing the master plan. On Maharaj’s directions, the district administration of Uttarkashi and Dehradun districts have declared September 18 a holiday in schools considering the Jagra (Devnayani) State fair being organised at the Mahasu temple in Hanol and the Chalda Maharaj temple in Dasau.

Officials stated that on the initiative taken by the minister, the Tourism department had prepared a proposal for the development of the Mahasu Devta temple on the lines of Badrinath and Kedarnath, which had been approved in the past by the State cabinet. The Jagra (Devnayani) State fair is being held at the Mahasu Devta temple on September 18 and at the Chalda Maharaj temple on September 19. Considering this, the Dehradun chief education officer has declared a holiday in all schools in Kalsi and Chakrata blocks while the Uttarkashi chief education officer has declared a holiday in all schools in Purola and Mori blocks on September 18.–
