Orders reopening of blocked roads in three days

Following considerable infrastructural damage caused by days of heavy rains resulting in landslides and other incidents, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami undertook an aerial survey of the affected areas on Sunday. The chief minister directed the chief secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu to deploy more mechanical excavators and ensure reopening of blocked roads in three days. The chief minister surveyed the disaster affected areas of Devprayag, Totaghati, Teendhara, Kaudiyala, Rishikesh, Ranipokhri, Narendranagar, Fakot and Chamba along with the chief secretary, Disaster Management minister Dhan Singh Rawat and the Bharatiya Janata Party state president Madan Kaushik.

Meanwhile, a number of roads have remained blocked in different districts of the state. According to information provided by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), two rural motor roads are blocked in Uttarkashi district while in Dehradun district the Rishikesh-Dehradun state highway is closed due to portions of the Ranipokhri bridge breaking. The national highway 123 is blocked near Judo while one main district road and eight rural motor roads are also blocked in the district. In Chamoli district, the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 is blocked between Gulabkoti in the district and at Maletha in Tehri district. The Joshimath-Malari state highway has remained blocked nearly for a fortnight now while 14 rural motor roads are also blocked in the district.

In Rudraprayag district the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 197 is blocked between Tapovan and Maletha due to landslide while in the Pauri district two main district roads and eight rural motor roads are blocked. Further, in the Tehri district the NH 58 is blocked in Totaghati, NH 94 has been washed out at Agrakhal-Gojmer-Dharasu and seven rural motor roads are also blocked in the district. Four rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district while the Ramnagar-Tallesethi-Begalghat state highway and three rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district. Four rural motor roads are blocked in Almora district whereas in Champawat district the Tanakpur-Champawat national highway 9 is blocked at Swala in addition to four rural motor roads also blocked in the district. Five border roads and 11 rural motor roads are blocked in the Pithoragarh district
