The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya said that with the approval of the cabinet mothers of newborn sons will also be provided the Mahalakshmi kits which are currently provided on the birth of the first two daughters.
Arya stated that earlier the department urged the government to provide the Mahalakshmi kits on the birth of sons. The department has been offering the Mahalakshmi kits on the birth of girls and in response to public sentiment, there has been a consistent demand to extend it to the birth of sons as well.
Arya expressed gratitude to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the cabinet approving the proposal to provide the Mahalakshmi kit to the mother of a newborn son for up to the first two deliveries.
