MA/ B.Ed students protest relaxation in on Drawing teacher posts

Threaten to move to court if the amendment notification is not withdrawn

The decision of Uttarakhand government to amend the service regulations of Licensed Teachers (LT) and remove the compulsion of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree for the post of drawing and art teachers in the government schools of the state has agitated a section of students. These students who had done B.Ed or Master of Arts (MA) in drawing subjects assembled at Gandhi Park here on Friday and expressed their resentment on the amended order. These students said that by affecting the amendment the state government has made the students of BA eligible for the post of Assistant teachers. Terming the change unconstitutional the students said that they alleged that the government is resorting to vote bank politics. They said that the government should withdraw the amendment notification failing which they would seek justice form the High Court (HC).

It is worth mentioning here that the unemployed graduates of drawing, painting and fine arts were demanding that the B.Ed degree should not be compulsory for drawing teachers in the state. The chief minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat had recently directed the education department to remove the compulsion of the B.Ed degree for the post of drawing teachers following which the education department issued an amended notification on Thursday.
