Light rain and snowfall likely in parts of State today

A day after snowfall in the mountainous regions and rain in the plains, clear skies and sunny conditions provided some relief from the cold in parts of Dehradun and elsewhere on Friday. The State meteorological centre has forecast very light to light rain at a few places with very light to light rain/snowfall likely at a few places situated at altitudes of 2,800 metres and above on Saturday. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of dense fog likely to occur in some parts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts with frost likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous regions of the State today.

Provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist/shallow fog likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 23 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Friday were 19.7 degrees Celsius and 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 21.4 degrees Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 10.5 degrees Celsius and -0.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 10.7 degrees Celsius and -0.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light rain was reported in Chakrata, Pandukeshwar, Harshil, New Tehri and parts of Dehradun during the day.
