Life remains affected by rains- 145 roads blocked across State

Routine life remains affected across the State due to rain and resulting incidents like landslides blocking roads in various regions. According to information from the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), at least 145 roads were reported to be blocked in different districts on Sunday evening. The flow of pilgrims has also been affected with a total of 4,753 persons visiting the Char Dham shrines and Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara on Sunday. While 2,301 persons visited Badrinath, 171 visited Kedarnath, 803 visited Gangotri, 599 visited Yamunotri and 879 visited Hemkund Sahib on Sunday.

According to SEOC data, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 and Gaurikund- Kedarnath bridle path are open in Rudraprayag district though 14 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. In Pauri district the Kotdwar-Dugadda national highway 119 has been reopened for big vehicles while four State highways, one main district road and 23 rural motor roads were blocked in the district. One State highway and 16 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Dehradun district. The Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway 108 and Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94 were open in Uttarkashi district though one main district road and eight rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. In Chamoli district the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 was open though two other district roads and 22 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. The Rishikesh-Chamba national highway 94 remained blocked by debris near Kunjapuri while the Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar national highway 58 was reported to be closed for large vehicles at Sakhnidhar, Kaudiyala. One national highway, two State highways and 10 rural motor roads were also reported to be blocked in the district. All the roads were reported to be open in Haridwar, Champawat and Almora districts while two State highways, one main district road and 14 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Nainital district. Five rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Bageshwar district while two border roads and 13 rural roads were reported to be blocked in the Pithoragarh district. Efforts are underway to restore connectivity.
