Life limping back to normal in U’khand after disaster

Death toll mounts to 64, many still missing

Life is returning back to normal in disaster affected areas of Uttarakhand. Heavy rains had wrecked havoc on life and property on October 18 and 19 in the state. Meanwhile the death toll in the state has mounted to 64 on Thursday. The home minister Amit Shah himself confirmed the figure during his visit to the state on Thursday afternoon. Many teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and state police are still engaged in relief and rescue operations in the state.

The Yatra to the shrines of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri has started. Large number of roads in different parts of the state are still closed.

As per the authorities, 34 deaths have so far been reported from Nainital district while 11 people have died in Champawat district. In Almora six people have lost their lives.
