Welcoming the decision of the State cabinet to promulgate the Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Ordinance-2024, Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt has termed it a decisive hit by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on rioters. He said that the stand of the BJP on this issue has also been clear, reiterating that it is necessary to deal sternly with those who damage public property. Bhatt also welcomed the decision of the cabinet to raise the State’s share in the grant provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other public welfare decisions.
Reacting to the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting on Monday, Bhatt said that the BJP welcomes the decision taken by the cabinet to deter those who disturb the peace and damage public property in the State. This decision has given happiness and satisfaction to the people of Uttarakhand. “It has been seen for some time now that rioters and anti-social elements were attempting to disrupt the peace in the State by exploiting protest demonstrations, strikes and movements. Such elements caused damage to public property which was not tolerable to any law abiding citizen in Uttarakhand. The damage to public and private property along with arson witnessed during the riots at Vanbhulpura in Haldwani is a recent example of this,” the BJP State president said.
