Heavy rain/snowfall & cold day conditions warning issued for today

The meteorological centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain / snowfall (at 2,500 metres and above)  at a few places in districts of Kumaon region with intense to very intense showers at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Friday.  Cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to occur at many places in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely to occur at most places in districts of Kumaon and at many places in districts of Garhwal region while snowfall is likely at places situated at altitudes of 2,000 metres and above. Dehradun is forecast to experience generally cloudy sky with likelihood of moderate rain/thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 12 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively on Friday.

Meanwhile, most parts of the state experienced rain while mountainous regions received snowfall on Thursday. The resulting drop in temperatures made most people avoid the outdoors though political party workers could be seen campaigning for their candidates despite the weather.
