Heavy rain alert issued for six districts today

85 roads blocked in various parts of the state

The State meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall with intense spells at isolated places in Nainital, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Pauri and Tehri districts on Wednesday. While light to moderate/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in Uttarakhand, Dehradun is forecast to receive a few spells of rain/thundershowers, one/two of which may be heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius andand 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun.

Meanwhile, a total of 85 roads were reported to be blocked due to landslides and other factors in different districts of the state. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), in Uttarkashi district the Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway is blocked near Chungi-Bhadeti, the Lambgaon-Ghansali-Tilwada motor road is blocked near Sada and nine rural motor roads are blocked. While three rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun district, 26 rural motor roads are blocked in Chamoli district. Two rural motor roads are blocked in Rudraprayag district and one state road, two main district roads and 13 rural motor roads are blocked in Pauri district while six rural motor roads are blocked in Tehri district. Similarly, eight rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district, one rural motor road is blocked in Nainital district and in Champawat district the Tanakpur-Champawat national highway is blocked by debris at Bhartoli and six rural motor roads are blocked. One border road and four rural motor roads are blocked in Pithoragarh district. Efforts are underway to reopen the blocked roads for traffic.
