Health secretary CMOs to monitor Covid-19 situation: Rawat

In view of the increasing cases of the new variant of Covid-19 in the country, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the State Health department to remain in an alert mode for the disease. He said that the department should take the benefit of the past experiences in dealing with the new variant of Covid-19 in the State.
The minister directed the officers of the department to strengthen the surveillance system, compulsory testing of the patients having symptoms of the disease and genome sequencing of the positive samples. He said that the details such as number of samples collected, positive patients, testing and hospitalisation should be uploaded daily on the Integrated Diseases Surveillance Portal.
The minister directed that a nodal officer for the disease at the level of the State Health Directorate should be appointed. He said that the State Health secretary should regularly monitor the disease at State level and chief medical officers (CMOs) concerned should monitor at district level.
He directed the Health secretary to ensure that the guidelines issued by the government of India are implemented in the State. Rawat added that the district level meetings should be held to monitor and combat the disease. Rawat said that the supply of medicines, oxygen cylinders and ventilators should be ensured in all the health units of the State. He also directed the officers to keep the oxygen generation plants active.
