Rituals for closing of Badrinath temple to begin on November 15

The rituals for closure of the Badrinath temple to the public for the winter will begin on November 15. The temple is slated to be closed to the public for the winters on November 19. According to information provided by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), the Panch Poojas will begin on Tuesday.

Following ritual prayers, the portals of lord Ganesh will be closed in the evening on November 15. On November 16, lord Adikedareshwar will be given the Samadhi form and his portals will also be closed. Further, on November 17 the Khadag Pustak will be worshipped and after that the recitation of the Vedic Richas will be discontinued.

The ritual worship of goddess Lakshmi will be conducted on November 18. On the following day the Rawal (chief priest) of Badrinath will dress up as a woman and install goddess Lakshmi near lord Badrinath. The deities Uddhav and Kuber will be brought to the temple premises before this. On the same day at 3:35 PM, the portals of Badrinath temple will be closed to the public for the winters. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 17 lakh pilgrims have visited the Badrinath temple so far this year.
