The High Court bar association has expressed concern at the shortage of judges in the Uttarakhand High Court. The association has sought from the Chief Justice of India and the Union Law minister that the appointment of judges to the Uttarakhand High Court should be expedited. A meeting of the High Court bar association executive was held here on Wednesday. Members discussed the issue of less than required number of judges in the High Court during the meeting.

Expressing their views, the association executive members stated that there is a shortage of judges for the disposal of the pending cases in the Uttarakhand High Court. Due to this, it takes a considerable time for the petitioners to get justice. Some of the judges are slated to retire in the near future. In such a situation, the disposal of pending cases is likely to be delayed further. Considering this, a request has been made to the Chief Justice of India and the Union Law minister to expedite the appointment of judges to the Uttarakhand High Court so that the general public can get justice on time.

The association meeting was presided over by the association’s head Prabhakar Joshi and conducted by general secretary Vikas Bahuguna.
