Goyal warns hospitals & educational institutions of action for ignoring sanitation

The Dehradun municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal has directed the managers of all clinics, hospitals, schools and colleges to ensure that their premises are clean. The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun will take action against them if larvae of the dengue-causing aedes mosquito are found on their premises.

The MCD is continuing its campaign to check homes, commercial establishments and under construction buildings. On finding mosquito larvae, it is being destroyed and a penalty is being imposed. Officials said that during the inspections many schools, colleges and hospitals were found to be negligent with the dengue-causing mosquito larvae being found on premises.

On Saturday, Goyal directed the chief medical officer to instruct all the government and private hospitals in the city to ensure that they maintain cleanliness and prevent the breeding of mosquitoes on their premises. The chief education officer was also directed to issue the same instructions to all government and private schools in the city. As part of its campaign on Saturday, the MCD teams imposed challans amounting to Rs 11,500 on finding mosquito larvae on premises of various individuals in the Ballupur, Ajabpur, Nehru Colony and Mehuwala areas.

Meanwhile, the MCD continued its anti-dengue campaign with fogging and spraying of larvicide in 15 wards of the city on Saturday.
