The Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) inaugurated the 20th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament at Raj Bhawan, Nainital and said that a total of 177 golfers from various States have registered for this event. It will end on June 1. Singh further said that this year, children from six years to octogenarians are participating.
“Six players above 75 years of age in the super veteran category, 32 in the veteran (65 to 75) age group, 95 in the general category, 11 players in the women’s category, 33 junior golfers (including 19 boys and 14 girls) are participating,” he said, adding that the objective of this tournament is to promote tourism in Nainital as well as to ensure participation of women and youth, in particular.
