Guv & CM greet the people on Republic Day

The Governor Baby Rani Maurya and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat have greeted the people on the occasion of Republic Day. In her message to the public, the governor said that this is the day when we reiterate our determination towards justice, freedom, equality and brotherhood.     Referring to the challenging situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, she said that an extraordinary confidence and determination was shown by the entire country including Uttarakhand against the pandemic. Stating that Covid cases have decreased in Uttarakhand too, she stressed on the need for observing all precautions. Maurya said that various schemes are being run by State and Central Governments for the overall development of Uttarakhand. It is necessary for the prosperity of State that equal opportunities be provided for the development of the women, youth, farmers, traders and all the classes and communities. Employment and health schemes should be implemented for the economic growth and overall welfare of the women. Stating that women are the backbone of the social-economic development of the state, she said that their good health, nutritious food for them and their family, their economical empowerment are priorities of the government.

In his message to the public, CM Rawat paid tribute to freedom fighters, makers of the constitution and Statehood activists, adding that Republic Day is a celebration of the creation of the constitution. Stating that the day reminds all of the sacrifice of freedom fighters, the CM said that this is an opportunity for all to reiterate the commitment to fulfil the dreams of patriots and achieve our targets. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state is developing consistently, adding that the state government has focused on development and transparent governance. Rawat said, “Our government has worked on the motto of less talk, more work. From making Gairsain the summer capital, the Dobra Chanthi bridge, Janaki bridge and various other basic facilities have been inaugurated. Conducive policies were made to encourage entrepreneurship with schemes like CM solar self employment and Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana introduced to provide self employment opportunities to the youths. Growth centres have been opened in rural areas to encourage local products while a network of roads has been laid in the state under the PMGSY.”

Referring to other efforts of the state government, the CM said that a total of 190 model schools comprising two in each block are being built to provide quality education to children. The government is also focusing on the revival of rivers and water sources. Apart from this, the government has put an effective check on corruption, focused on women empowerment and resolved the problems of farmers, youths and traders. The Covid-19 pandemic was faced strongly in a planned manner with the support of the public, he added.
