On the call given by PMHS wore black armbands while working on Tuesday

In support of the demand of Indian Medical Association (IMA) for arrest of Baba Ramdev on his statements on allopathy and doctors, the government hospital doctors of Uttarakhand donned black armbands while discharging their duties on Tuesday.

The general secretary of the Provincial Medical Health Services Association (PMHSA), the association of government doctors, Dr Manoj Verma said that all the doctors participated on the call given by the association and registered their protest. He said that the statements of Baba Ramdev who is a public figure and commands a following in the society against the doctors are unfortunate.

Dr Verma said that the statements like “how will they save others when they could not save themselves” is an insult to the doctors who lost their lives while treating patients. He said that the PMHSA strongly condemns these statements which are morale breaking and belittles the sacrifices made by the doctors while combating the pandemic of Covid-19. Dr Verma said that since the doctors are prescribing medicines recommended by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for treating Covid-19 patients, the statement of Ramdev questioning efficacy of medicines like Remdesivir, steroids and others are against the provisions of Epidemic Diseases Act.
