Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Kumhar Mandi on the eve of Deepawali and interacted with potters involved in making earthen Diyas and other items on Saturday. Extending his Deepawali wishes to them, the CM purchased earthen Diyas and appealed to all citizens to light clay Diyas to mark the festival of Deepawali. He said that such Diyas lend sanctity to the festival of lights. The Diyas burning in homes of the people also become a means of financial prosperity and happiness for the potters.

After purchasing Diyas from Kumhar Mandi, the CM paid for the items digitally. Dhami said that digital transactions have increased at a swift pace across the nation.  India is the nation with maximum digital transactions in the world. He further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the nation has progressed swiftly on the path to digitalisation.  UPI has become a part of the economy and habit of the people in a few years. Stating that this is the foundation of digital India, the CM said that it is also a means to provide digital services to the last person in society.

Dhami further said, “On this Deepawali, we should follow PM Modi’s ‘vocal for local’ mantra and encourage the purchase and publicity of local products as much as possible. In this way, we can also contribute towards the vision of a self-reliant India while our traditional products will also gain an identity. If people across the nation focus on purchasing local products, our nation will become stronger economically while the local producers will also get motivated,” the CM said.

He also extended his Deepawali wishes to the people while stating that in addition to prosperity, sanctity and happiness, the festival also sends the message of dignity and peace. “This festival is related to Lord Ram returning to Ayodhya after living in the forest for 14 years. Deepawali also symbolizes the victory of good over evil and of light over dark,” he said.
