Governor inaugurates Library, website of Vidhan Sabha

Inculcate the habit of reading books as they act as food for our brain: CM

 The Governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmit Singh inaugurated the newly constructed library building and the new website at Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday.  Congratulating the Speaker Ritu Khanduri for the new library, the governor said that the libraries are the temples of knowledge. He said that the library would help the legislators in legislative and social works. The governor also appreciated the fact that the website of the Vidhan Sabha is updated and said that we should implement the modern techniques in service of mankind, development of the country and welfare of the people. The governor also made an announcement for donating 108 books for the library.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the new library and the website will provide a new forum to the people for knowledge of parliamentary traditions.  He said that all the elected members can get the minute details about the business done by the house and the parliamentary traditions from the library. He said that everyone should inculcate the habit of reading books as they act as food for our brain.

 The speaker Khanduri said that she got the inspiration for setting up the library from her mother. She said that the library will have a collection of more than 20,000 books. Khanduri said that she intends to make the library so rich that the researchers can also visit it. She appealed to the people to donate books for the library of assembly.

 The leader of opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya said that the need for a good library had been felt for a long time. Appreciating the efforts of the speaker, he said that the books are harbingers of human values.

 The cabinet ministers Premchand Agarwal, Subodh Uniyal, Dhan Singh Rawat and BSP MLA Shahjad were present on the occasion.
