Governor directs Kumaun Uni for hand-holding of women SHGs

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh reviewed the academic and administrative activities in a meeting with the directors and deans at the DSB Campus of Kumaun University, Nainital on Friday.
In the meeting, the deans and directors gave a detailed presentation on the research, innovation, projects, challenges and future plans being conducted in their respective departments.
The governor said that the university should not be satisfied with small achievements, but should keep striving to achieve excellence through high quality and innovation. He said that Kumaun University has a unique identity, which needs to be strengthened further.
The governor said that the women self-help groups are producing excellent products, which need hand-holding and technical support to connect them to the market. He directed that special seminars focused on e-commerce and digital marketing should be organised for women self-help groups. Mentioning the immense possibilities of mushroom, kiwi, honey and aroma sectors in Uttarakhand, the Governor suggested the university undertake research and innovation in these sectors.
The governor also visited the department of Nano Science and Geology located at the DSB campus of the university during his visit.
The vice chancellor Diwan S Rawat, campus director Neeta Bora Sharma, registrar MS Mandrawal, dean, student welfare Sanjay Pant, chief dean of students HCS Bisht and others attended the meeting.
