PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Pantnagar
Former MLA Rajesh Shukla has written to the chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, terming the district administration order to remove the research centres and office buildings of GBP University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) for airport expansion work as completely unfair. He further suggested that the university be provided with compensation for the centres and office buildings being demolished by the State government to help the university re-establish these centres elsewhere. If the State government refuses to compensate, construction of new centres / buildings will not be possible due to fund crunch and this will adversely affect research and other activities of the university, he added.
He also reminded the CM of the stellar role GBPUAT had played in making the country self-reliant in food production and development of agricultural technology which transforms agrarian scenario.
