Gangotri ritually closed for winter, Kedarnath & Yamunotri to be closed today

The ritual process of the Char Dham Yatra coming to an end began on Tuesday with the portals of Gangotri temple in Uttarkashi district being closed to the public for the winter. Kedarnath and Yamunotri temples will be closed ritually on Wednesday. The portals of Gangotri temple were ritually closed at 11:45 AM on the occasion of Annakoot on Tuesday. After this, the Doli of goddess Ganga left for Mukhba.

Earlier, the process of closing the Gangotri temple began with a Mahabhishek of the idol of Mother Ganga. A large number of devotees had gathered on the occasion in Gangotri. On Wednesday, the Utsav Doli of goddess Ganga will reach Mukhba (Mukhimath). There the villagers will welcome the goddess like a daughter. Meanwhile, the portals of Kedarnath and Yamunotri temples will be closed to the public for the winters on Wednesday. After the closing of Yamunotri temple, devotees will be able to pay obeisance to goddess Yamuna in Kharsali. Similarly, after the closing of the Kedarnath temple, devotees will be able to pay obeisance to Lord Kedarnath in Ukhimath during the winter.
