Former President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Dehradun on his three-day visit to Uttarakhand on Friday. He was welcomed by the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on his arrival. Kovind paid floral tributes at a statue of BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary along with the governor and chief minister. The former President appreciated the efforts of the cantonment board officers for the renovated statue.

He recalled that during an earlier visit to Dehradun he had garlanded this statue and had mentioned to his staff about the statue being small in size. Taking cognisance of this observation, governor Singh requested the cantonment board CEO to renovate the statue. The dimensions of the statue were increased and it was renovated to improve its appearance. Kovind appreciated the governor and cantonment board officials for renovating Ambedkar’s statue. It is pertinent to mention here that Kovind will participate in various programmes at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie on Saturday and Sunday.
