The detailed project report (DPR) to shift Adhat Bazaar to a new location near Patelnagar is in the final stage and will be soon sent to the State administration for approval, said the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika. She said that departments involved with the project- Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and the Public Works Department (PWD), were asked to complete the DPR by the end of this month while considering all major points in order to expedite the shifting process of Adhat Bazaar to the chosen location in Patelnagar. The DPR by MDDA is at its final stage and PWD will finish its report soon too.

After the district administration gets these final reports, they will be sent for approval from the State administration, added Sonika. Besides this, the DM also directed the officials to start the work of removing electric poles from Tehsil Chowk to Saharanpur Chowk soon. She also ordered the officials to prepare a layout of the selected land in Patelnagar after making proper cleaning and sanitation arrangements there.  She asked the officials to personally come forward and start work on the project to ensure construction work can be commenced soon. Sonika also informed that the tender to construct boundary walls on the selected land to relocate Adhat Bazar has also been floated by the officials.

Adhat Bazaar is an over 100-year-old wholesale grain and pulses market which is being relocated to a new location in Patelnagar as it causes massive traffic jams in the Saharanpur Road area. The DM said that the administration is making all efforts to ensure work can be started soon in the new location.
