Several routes will remain diverted in Dehradun today in view of thousands of devotees expected to attend the Nagar Parikrama as part of the ongoing Jhanda Mela which started on Sunday.
According to the police, several routes including Bindal junction, Ballupur, Niranjanpur Mandi, Lalpul, Balliwala Chowk, Saharanpur Chowk, Kishan Nagar Chowk and Matawala Bagh will remain diverted. The police said that the procession of devotees will start from Darbar Sahib complex and pass through Saharanpur Chowk, Kanwali Road, SGRR Bindal Tilak Road, Clock Tower, Paltan Bazaar, Lakkhibagh, Bombay Bagh and then would return to Darbar Sahib via Saharanpur Chowk.
The police said that no vehicle will be allowed to go towards Jhanda Sahib from the Bhandaribagh area till the procession returns to Darbar Sahib. They said that no traffic will be allowed towards Saharanpur Chowk from Kanwali Road and traffic arriving from Balliwala Chowk and Lakshman Chowk will be diverted towards Ballupur or GMS Road and Park Road respectively. Also, no traffic from Saharanpur Chowk will be diverted towards Kanwali Road and Jhanda Sahib. The police appealed to the locals and devotees to use alternative routes to avoid traffic issues on Tuesday.
