The Dehradun district administration has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to complete the ongoing construction works for the global investors summit 2023 within the stipulated time. The administration will not permit any digging for construction works after October 15, said the additional district magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Ramji Sharan Sharma in a meeting held on Tuesday which was also joined by officials concerned from the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), traffic police and irrigation department among others.  He asked the officials concerned to seek permission from the departments concerned soon to carry out construction work that requires digging of roads like laying lines for drinking water, sewer besides other construction works. They should ensure that work should be commenced as soon as after getting permission as the administration will now allow the digging of roads after October 15, said Sharma. He said that it has been observed that after asphalting of the road, various departments dig up some parts of the road for construction work due to which proper compaction of these parts is not possible. This often causes the surface to sink considering that, no digging will be allowed after October 15. After the said date, the administration will take strict action against those found digging in the name of completing the work without permission under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, said ADM. He also directed the MCD officials to remove hoardings from roads which are installed diagonally. Besides this, he also instructed the traffic police to provide necessary cooperation in traffic management during the construction works conducted by PWD to ensure works can be completed on time.
