The native residents affected by land subsidence in Joshimath staged a protest rally in the town on Thursday and returned the alternative forms of the administration to the authorities, terming these incomplete. The protesters reiterated that they will not leave their lands and resettle away from Joshimath as their livelihood, social, religious and other resources are in Joshimath. The locals reached the Tehsil in a procession and there they returned the letters given by the administration without filling the forms. They also submitted a memorandum addressed to the chief minister through the sub divisional magistrate. The locals said that apart from their buildings and homes affected by subsidence, their cowsheds, temples and other resources are located in Joshimath to which they have been connected for several generations. Stressing that they cannot leave Joshimath, they demanded that the subsidence should be treated properly at the earliest.
