In latest news from Uttarakhand, Udham Singh Nagar police arrested ‘Mayavi Icchadhari Baba’ on the charge of duping scores of people and sexually exploiting women while flaunting his ‘miraculous power’ to trap the gullible.
A woman had lodged a complaint at Rudrapur Kotwali on June 8, stating that the baba had sexually assaulted her and made her part with Rs five lakh with the threat that he would upload a video depicting the act if she did not pay him the sum. As per the complaint, he kept demanding a total of Rs 20 lakh from her by way of blackmailing.
Realising the seriousness of the complaint, the SSP, Manikant Mishra formed a police team to apprehend the charlatan posing as a sadhu with miraculous power. He was arrested from near the degree college on Rampur Road in Rudrapur. According to the police, he was planning to flee to Mumbai to evade arrest.
