Thunderstorm forecast for today
The sudden change of weather since Tuesday night with the sky remaining partly cloudy throughout the day on Wednesday following rain in the evening brought the much-needed respite from the surging heat in Dehradun. Following thunderstorms and rains on Tuesday night and Wednesday evening, the mercury came down by a few notches to the relief of the residents.
As per the meteorological department’s forecast, there is a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/hail/squall with the speed of 50 to 70 km per hour in isolated places in the districts of Uttarakhand on Thursday. Besides, heavy rainfall with intense spell is forecast in isolated places in Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts of the state on the day. In Dehradun, the sky would remain partly to generally cloudy on Thursday with possibilities of one or two spells of light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm accompanied with gusty wind (30-40 kmph). The maximum temperature is likely to be in the neighbourhood of 33 degree Celsius.
