On the orders of the Election Commission (EC), the state administration removed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Udham Singh Nagar district Dilip Singh Kunwar on Sunday. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and deputy director Vigilance, Barinderjit Singh would replace Kunwar as the new SSP of Udham Singh Nagar. The assembly constituencies of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami (Khatima) and education minister Arvind Pandey (Gadarpur) are in Udham Singh Nagar district.

On Saturday acting on the orders of EC the state administration took away the charge of excise secretary and commissioner from H C Semwal. In his place Ravinath Raman was made the excise commissioner while Nitin Bhadoria was made the excise commissioner. Semwal was made the secretary and commissioner of excise by the Harish Dhami government on January 7, a day before the imposition of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the assembly elections. The former chief minister and head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat had objected to the appointment of Semwal just ahead of the MCC and requested the EC to take cognizance of the issue.
