The state administration has started an inquiry in the case involving the associate professor of medicine of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dr Nidhi Uniyal and the health secretary of the state. On the orders of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief secretary S S Sandhu had directed the additional chief secretary Manisha Panwar to conduct a fact finding inquiry in the whole episode. Though the CM had cancelled the transfer of Dr Uniyal on Friday, she has not joined her duty at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun.

The CM took cognizance of the media reports and social media inputs after Dr Uniyal was suddenly transferred from GDMC to Almora medical college. After her transfer Dr Uniyal had resigned from her position in protest against what she termed high handedness of the health secretary

In her resignation she said that on being asked to treat the ailing wife of the health secretary she visited his house along with two other staff members. Dr Uniyal alleged that on being ill treated by the wife of the secretary she left their house and came back to the hospital. Later she was asked to tender an apology to the wife of the secretary but she refused.

When contacted the Principal of GDMC, Dr Ashutosh Sayana told The Pioneer that Dr Uniyal had not joined the college till Monday. Dr Uniyal too is maintaining a stoic silence on the issue and is not meeting and picking phone calls of media persons.
