Congress has already conceded defeat in Champawat- Bhasin

Exuding confidence over the positive outcome in the upcoming by-election in Champawat from where the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is the candidate, the Uttarakhand unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that the leadership of Congress party has already conceded its defeat in Champawat. 

In a statement the Vice President of Uttarakhand BJP, Devendra Bhasin said that the Congress leaders were making lofty claims after the by- elections in Champawat was announced but the manner in which senior leaders of the party have now shied away from contesting the elections shows that the party has read the writing on the wall. 

The media in charge of Uttarakhand BJP, Manvir Singh Rawat said that the Congress party was either wary of fielding a strong candidate against CM Dhami or its senior leaders refused to contest the election. He said that now the leader of opposition (LoP) of Congress party has himself said that the two time MLA of the Congress party who has contested many elections from Champawat had refused to contest from the seat. “This clearly shows that the Congress leaders are scared to fight BJP. The people of Uttarakhand have rejected the accusations on which the Congress party does politics,’’ he said.

Chauhan added that the Congress party which makes tall claims of raising the issues of people inside the assembly and outside it is so engrossed in its internal factional wars that it has no time to raise the public issues.

He said that by taking big decisions within 100 days of his assuming office for the second time, CM Dhami has made his commitment for development clear. The BJP leader said that decisions on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and pensions to the elderly are some of the historic decisions taken by CM. He said that the people of Uttarakhand know that the development of the state is possible only in the double engine government of BJP and due to this they have handed over the power back to BJP in the state. Chauhan claimed that the CM Dhami is heading towards a landslide victory in Champawat by elections and the people have made up their minds to teach a lesson to the Congress party which engages in the politics of allegations and counter allegations. 

The voting for the Champawat by elections would be held on May 31. The Congress party has nominated Nirmala Gehtodi as its candidate from the seat after former MLA Hemesh Kharkwal refused to contest the election. The counting of the votes would be done on June 3 and the result would be declared on the same day.
