Doctors deployed on Kedarnath route helping pilgrims

The chief medical officer (CMO) of Rudraprayag Dr H C S Martolia said that doctors have been deployed along the Kedarnath pilgrimage route to provide medical check-up and emergency treatment to the pilgrims.  “The district health department has deployed doctors to conduct any health-related test and provide emergency treatment if the pilgrims feel sick on their way to Kedarnath Dham,” he said.

He further said that his department has conducted health tests and given emergency treatment to 1,44,004 pilgrims visiting Kedarnath till July 11. “Health tests were conducted and treatment was given to 1,26, 563 pilgrims through OPD out of whom 98547 were men and 28016, women,” he said and added that  on Tuesday itself, they had helped 1534 pilgrims, including 327 women,  with health-related tests and emergency treatment.

Moreover, oxygen was provided to 75 pilgrims on Tuesday and the oxygen facility had been provided to 4407 pilgrims till now, he added.

Notably, the Kedarnath Yatra has been stalled on Wednesday by the administration due to frequent rain-induced landslides from the hills along the pilgrimage route.
