Police arrests three with 51 boxes of illicit liquor

The Dehradun police have arrested three accused for unlawfully transporting 51 boxes of prohibited liquor. Providing the information, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Dehradun Ajai Singh informed that he has directed all subordinate officers to enhance surveillance in their areas to combat the smuggling of illegal drugs/narcotics and cash in anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said on Tuesday, during a rigorous inspection conducted by a task force at Raiwala police station, a gray Alto car was discovered late at night near Nirmal hospital, Raiwala, concealed under three water culverts, based on informant tip-offs. Considering this, three accused have been arrested for unlawfully transporting 35 boxes of country liquor and 16 boxes of English liquor. The accused has been identified as Johnny Kumar (24) from Haryana, Basudev Prajapati (19) from Bijnor and Nepal Singh (35) also from Bijnor.

Singh further added that during the interrogation, it was disclosed that the accused intended to clandestinely distribute the aforementioned liquor in the Rishikesh area. They informed that Rinku who was residing in Rishikesh, was also involved in this illicit liquor trade as he facilitated the transportation of the liquor consignment to Rishikesh for lucrative gains. He said that a case has been registered against the accused at Raiwala police station.
