DM instructs officials to remove encroachments on Cantt Road

Acting on the complaints received from people, the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika instructed the municipal corporation officials to remove encroachment on the Cantt Road by cart vendors and street vendors. The instruction was given in the course of a public hearing held here on Monday.

A total of 98 complaints were received during the hearing with most of them pertaining to land disputes. Besides, there were complaints related to irrigation, employment generation, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and police.

Considering all these complaints, the DM directed the officials concerned to promptly address and resolve these issues through the complaint resolution machinery existing at the departmental level.

According to the officers’ privy to details, the DM took serious note of a complaint made by a resident of Teachers Colony regarding the corporation sitting idle on encroachment of private property and road by cart vendors and street vendors on Cantt Road.

Similarly, acting on a complaint received about non-functioning of drainage in Mahadev Khale, she asked the irrigation department officers to investigate and provide an update on the situation.

Additionally, in response to a complaint about the lack of land demarcation, instructions have been given to the Tehsildar to take appropriate action. She said that she had issued instructions to senior officers, including tehsildars, to address land-related complaints promptly.
