DM instructs CMS to transfer mental patients to Apna Ghar Ashram in Rajasthan

Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava has directed the administration of State Mental Health Institute, Selaqui to transfer those mental patients to Apna Ghar Ashram in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, who have been staying in the hospital for years and the administration has failed to locate their relatives.

In the recent meeting with the administration of the institute, Srivastava instructed the chief medical superintendent (CMS), Dr CP Tripathi to approach the State Government for the approval to transfer such patients to  Rajasthan. He also directed the administration to establish a medicine centre with the permission of the Uttarakhand Government. Moreover, DM also asked the chief medical officer (CMO) to allocate the fund to the management of the mental health institute for setting up 58 new beds for patients.
