Police arrest Bangladeshi woman living illegally in Rishikesh

The police arrested a Bangladeshi woman from Rishikesh on Wednesday who was residing in the city illegally with the help of forged documents. The police informed that as per the directions of the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar, a campaign is being conducted across the district to search for illegally residing Pakistani and Bangladeshi residents. The police received information about a Bangladeshi woman named Sonia Chaudhary overstaying at Awas Vikas Colony near Virbhadra Road in Rishikesh.

On visiting the address and verifying her documents, it was found that the woman is a Bangladeshi passport holder. Her passport and visa validity had expired on December 25, 2014 and September 18, 2011 respectively. The woman has also made Indian documents like identity cards among others while residing in India illegally which is a violation of the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Passport Act 1967 / Foreigners Act 1946. The police informed that a case has been filed against the woman and she will be presented in court soon too.
