DM discusses Badrinath master plan with consultant

Efforts have begun to develop Badrinath according to a master plan as done in Kedarnath. The Chamoli district magistrate Swati S Bhadauriya held a meeting with consultants and district officials to discuss the properties to be affected in Badrinath and their relocation.

The DM told the design company consultant to establish coordination with the departments concerned to secure information about departmental assets in Badrinath and to prepare a detailed work plan for departmental requirements in the master plan. She directed the consultant to hold separate meetings from Sunday with officials of departments concerned to discuss the works proposed in the master plan.

It will be recalled that during a video conference on presentation of the master plan during September last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed that special focus should be laid in the Badrinath master plan to maintain its ancient and spiritual value.

The form of the master plan for Badrinath should be based entirely on spiritual aspects and not on tourism. PM Modi had said that Badrinath should be developed as a mini-smart and spiritual city where homestays can also be developed. Other spiritual sites nearby should also be linked to it. Officials had stated then that an 85 hectare area has been taken for this purpose. The deadline for completing work on this master plan is 2025.
