The director general of police Ashok Kumar has directed officials to identify bottlenecks which can become a hindrance in the smooth movement of traffic in Rishikesh, Muni Ki Reti and Lakshmanjhula areas during Char Dham Yatra and submit a detailed report within three days. He said this in a meeting organised in Rishikesh with various senior police officials in view of the Char Dham Yatra scheduled to commence on April 22. He said that vehicles arriving in Rishikesh from outside areas should be sent from Nepali Farm to Bhaniyawala Ranipokhari via Indramani Badoni Chowk (Natraj Chowk) to the mountainous areas from Friday afternoon till Sunday.

On weekends, all vehicles should be sent from Chilla Road towards Haridwar via Garud Chatti Road. He said that vehicles arriving from Haridwar to Rishikesh and Lakshmanjhula should not be allowed via Chilla Road. He also directed the officials to make proper parking arrangements in the areas while taking effective action against those parking in non-parking zones.

He asked to mark places to make temporary parking spots and make proper arrangements to tow vehicles for wrong parking. He asked the respective officials to make timely demands for personnel to be appointed for traffic duties during Char Dham Yatra. He also directed to appoint a senior traffic officer for the Lakshmanjhula area and a traffic inspector in the Rishikesh Kotwali area for traffic management. He also instructed officials to contact concerned agencies to update the correct route on Google Maps to ensure pilgrims get the correct information. He said that a review meeting will be conducted on April 18 to review the arrangements made by officials as per the directions.
