Act against misleading posts on social media on Eid: DGP

The director general of police, Ashok Kumar has directed all senior/superintendents of police to take immediate action against those who post misleading and objectionable social media posts on Eid that can potentially disturb communal harmony along with law and order in the State.

He held a video conference on Wednesday with all senior police officials of the State along with SPs and SSPs and directed them to keep a close watch on anti-social elements and visit sensitive places on Eid. He asked them to ensure that mass sacrifices take place only at slaughter houses and at predetermined places as per the directions of the high court.

Namaz should also be offered only at Eidgahs or other designated places. He said that police officials should be on super alert mode and make strict security arrangements besides increasing patrolling and force deployment as per the requirement.

He asked them to work in coordination with respective district officials to take appropriate measures to maintain law and order. He also directed them to check the status of all complaints regarding controversial matters and lawsuits registered on the occasion last year and act appropriately.
