The residents of the state will soon be able to register a First Information Report (FIR) with the police from their homes. Initially the e- FIR can be registered for the incidents of vehicle theft and about lost objects. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with the senior officers of the home and police department at state secretariat on Tuesday on e- FIR. The officers gave a presentation on the CM on e- FIR portal being developed under CCTNS.

Dhami said that the general public would benefit under the e-FIR system. He said that senior officers would regularly review the e -FIRs. The CM said that the mantra of his government is simplification, solution, disposal and satisfaction.  He opined that the system should be simple so that the public gets its complaints resolved easily. Stressing the need for use of modern technology in policing, Dhami said that drone technology should be used. He directed that the meetings on various aspects of training, modernisation and police reforms should be organised. CM said that necessary provisions should be made to prevent fake FIRs and a committee should be constituted in this regard.

The CM was told that a notification for e- FIR is needed to be issued and initially it would be used to register complaints on vehicle theft and things lost. A virtual police station would be set up for e-FIR and all the complaints registered would be handled by it. The complainant would receive an acknowledgement and after initial examination it would be forwarded to the police station concerned.  The e-FIR would also be linked with the Devbhoomi mobile app.

The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, director general of police Ashok Kumar, special principal secretary Abhinav Kumar, DIG V Murugeshan, IG Bimla Gunjiyal, additional secretary Riddhim Agarwal and others were present in the meeting.
